Minister Elbert Frank Jones

Minister Elbert Frank Jones, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully after a brief hospital stay. Born on March 12, 1956, in Meridian, Mississippi, Frank was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of the late Emmett Lee Jones, Sr. and Helen Bryant Jones. From an early age, Frank demonstrated a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. His quick wit and infectious sense of humor made him the life of every gathering. Frank's education began in the Meridian Public School District, where he graduated with the class of 1974. He furthered his studies at Meridian Community College and was ordained for ministry at World Christian University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Driven by a heart to serve, Frank answered the call to duty by enlisting in the United States Air Force on April 5, 1978. His dedication and commitment to his country were steadfast, serving honorably until his discharge. He continued his service to the community as a valued member of the Meridian Police Department, where he worked diligently to protect and serve his fellow citizens. Frank was a devoted father to his son, Charlie (Laporschea) Harper, and his daughter, Whitney Walker. His legacy continues through his four beloved grandchildren: Charlie, Antwon, Charleston, and Kayla. He shared a deep bond with his siblings, Deborah Jones Ewing and Laura Jones Primm (Donald), and cherished the guidance of his godmother, Vallonia Davis, and his god sister, Vanessa Alford Williams. He has two special nephews who remain a part of his life, Darius Ewing and Desmond Vashun Hudnall. Frank was also blessed with the enduring friendship of Harold Brassfield, James Vernon Lloyd, and Larry Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers, Emmett Lee Jones Jr. and Bryant Emelle Jones, and nephews Michael Jones and Desmond Ewing. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Frank's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Diversicare of Greensboro, Alabama, The Veteran's Association, Vaughn Regional Medical Center of Selma, Alabama, Reginald and Tiffany Bryant and their daughter Nani Bryant, a very special neighbor, Pokey, and a truly caring and devoted son, Charlie Harper. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Frank's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to service.
