Milton E. "Mickey" Westover, born January 24, 1943, in the quaint town of Shirley, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. He was 83 years old. Mickey was the beloved son of Milton and Irene (Perham) Westover, who have predeceased him, along with his cherished sister, Cynthia Westover, his dear daughter, Nicole Westover-Rose, his loving son, Harvey Westover, and his soulmate, Wanda Pelchat. Despite these profound losses, Mickey's heart remained open and full of gratitude for the family he continued to nurture and love. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Sherry Harding and her husband Kenneth Harding, and Margaret Westover and her husband Jeremiah O'Neil. Mickey's legacy also lives on in his siblings, Patricia Grenier, Doris Fischer, and Frank Westover, as well as his six treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He leaves behind a multitude of friends and extended family who will continue to carry his memory forward. Mickey attended Ayer High School, where he began to lay the foundation for a life dedicated to service and community. At the tender age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from February 16, 1960, to January 28, 1964, achieving the rank of ADJAN. He also served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves, embodying the spirit of dedication and patriotism throughout his life. Professionally, Mickey was a skilled machinist, most recently employed by Maxant. His work reflected his meticulous nature and commitment to excellence. However, it was his volunteer work that truly highlighted his character. As an active town member, Mickey devoted many years to the Shirley Fire Department and the Town of Shirley Water Department, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Beyond his professional and volunteer endeavors, Mickey was a passionate HAM radio enthusiast, delighting in conversations with people from across the globe. Known for his kindness and generosity, he was always there to offer assistance, advice, or simply a listening ear. Mickey's warmth and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the home care nurses, EMS crews, and family friend, Tonia, for their compassionate care and unwavering support, allowing Mickey to spend his final days in the comfort of his family home. In accordance with Mickey's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his memory. Though he has left this world, the love he shared and the lives he touched will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local charity of your choice, in memory of Mickey's generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
