Miles Schoelin

May 14, 2003 — May 15, 2017

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, Miles Schoelin. Born on May 14, 2003, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Miles brought 14 years of light, laughter, and love into this world before his untimely departure on May 15, 2017. His life, though brief, was filled with warmth, joy, and unforgettable memories that will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known him. Miles was the cherished son of Kacey Schoelin and Lydia Giovanni, who saw in him a boundless spirit and an inquisitive mind. He was a beloved brother to Matthew, Payton, and Kinslee Schoelin, each of whom shared countless adventures and laughter with him. As the grandchild of Calimara and Adam Schoelin, and Susan Giovanni and Peter MelMouras, Miles was enveloped in a legacy of love that spanned generations. From an early age, Miles showed an insatiable curiosity and a compassion beyond his years. He attended Wilson Community School in Bayonne, where he was known not only for his academic diligence but also for his kind heart and infectious smile. Miles had a natural ability to make those around him feel special and included, traits that earned him many friends and admirers among peers and teachers alike. Miles was a boy full of life and promise, known for his love of the great outdoors and a particularly strong affinity for swimming. Whether he was diving into the local pool or lying on the beach with a good book, Miles found joy in simple pleasures. He was also a voracious reader, often found with his nose buried in a book, losing himself in stories that fueled his imagination and dreams. His friends—Jacob Freylah, Izabela Schmidt, Kimberly Lane, and Zane Houghn—were an integral part of his life, sharing in his adventures and enriching his days with laughter and camaraderie. Together, they created memories that will remain etched in their hearts forever. Miles's untimely passing was due to an allergic reaction at his middle school, a tragic event that has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him. His absence is felt deeply by his family, friends, and the community that rallied around him. A service to honor Miles's life and legacy will be held on May 18, 2017, at 2:40 PM. It will be a time for family, friends, and community members to come together, share stories, and celebrate the joyful spirit that was Miles Schoelin. As we gather to remember him, we hold onto the love and lessons he imparted during his all-too-brief time with us. In remembering Miles, we are reminded of the beauty of life and the profound impact one soul can have on the lives of many. Though his time with us was short, Miles's spirit will continue to inspire us to live with kindness, curiosity, and courage. His memory will forever be a guiding light in our hearts.
