March 25, 1954 — September 29, 2026

Mildred Freeman, a daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital on September 29, 2026. Born on March 25, 1954, in the close-knit community of Hyden, KY, Mildred was the youngest daughter of Juder and Helen Lewis. Mildred's life was a testament to love, generosity, and warmth. Known for her welcoming nature, she opened her heart and home to all who needed it, often referred to as "Mom" by many who were touched by her kindness. Her selflessness knew no bounds, as she would give her last to ensure others had what they needed. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she made everyone she met feel like they were part of her own. In 1977, Mildred married Billy, on May 14th. Though her heart faced sorrow with the passing of Billy in April 2019 and their son Timothy in November of the same year. Despite these profound losses, Mildred's strength and resilience were unwavering, continuing to shower her love upon her daughter Cindy (Rob), and her three grandchildren—two grandsons. Jace and Jaden, and a granddaughter Kaleah. She also leaves behind three brothers, Frank, Purl (Rose), and Thurman Lewis. As well as many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Juder & Helen, five sisters, Rosie, Sadie, Mae, Nancy, and Polly, and a brother Clinton. Leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Mildred's gentle spirit and boundless love will be dearly missed, but her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me

If tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

Special Thanks

A very special thank you to Virginia for your dedication and support over the last three years. It was very much appreciated, even on the hard days! We love you! Also, to Libby, thank you so much for all of your help. It was definitely a blessing! Love you!
