With heavy hearts and profound love, we honor the life of Mildred Memendez, who passed away peacefully at her home in Harrison County, West Virginia, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 24, 1964, in Shinnston, West Virginia, Mildred was a beacon of love, faith, and devotion throughout her life. Mildred was the cherished daughter of Russell and Betty Hartman, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her cousin, Mark Douglas Hartman; her parents-in-law, Leo Menendez Sr. and Margaret Bryan Menendez; and her siblings-in-law, Wayne Eugene Menendez, Margaret Elaine "Lanie" Menendez, Leo Menendez Jr., and Fred Menendez. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted husband, Donald "Don" Ray Menendez, her children, Danny Ray Menendez, Rusti Menendez Young, and Kenneth Lee Morgan, and her beloved granddaughter, Maddilyn Ray Young. Mildred is also survived by her brother-in-law, Frankie Menendez, and her sister-in-law, Kim VanHorn Menendez. Mildred and Don shared a lifelong marriage filled with love and partnership. Their journey together was one of mutual support, shared dreams, and unwavering dedication. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home in the Coal District and Hepzibah communities, where they raised their children and later welcomed their granddaughter, Maddilyn, into their loving arms. Mildred's care and devotion as a mother and grandmother defined her life's work, and she was the unwavering anchor her family relied upon. A woman of deep faith, Mildred was a loyal member of the Baptist church community, where she exemplified the teachings of the Lord through her kindness and love. Her selfless spirit was a testament to her strong belief in God, guiding her through every challenge, including her courageous battle with cancer. Her strength, grace, and unwavering faith will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew her. Mildred was a woman who put the needs of others before her own, offering compassion and comfort to those around her. Her generous heart and selfless nature touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on her community and loved ones. Though her passing leaves a void, there is solace in knowing that she is now resting in the loving arms of the Lord, free from suffering. Following her wishes, Mildred was cremated, and her family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at the Perine Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of choice, in remembrance of Mildred's generous spirit. While Mildred's physical presence is no longer with us, her memory, love, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Until we meet again, may she rest peacefully with the Lord.
