It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mildred Jackson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mildred departed this world peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Atrium Health Cleveland, enveloped by the love of her family. She was 71 years old.
Mildred Jackson was born on April 5, 1955, in the vibrant city of Washington D.C. She was the cherished daughter of Betsey Boyce and John Jackson, whose values and strength she embodied throughout her life. As the years passed, Mildred became the cornerstone of her expansive family, beloved by all for her nurturing spirit, loving hugs, and her big, warm smile that could light up any room.
Her legacy lives on through her five devoted children: Quinn Boyce, along with his wife Crystal Boyce; Michelle Jackson; Keisha Smarr and her husband Jamarus Smarr; Terri Jackson; and Angela Jackson. Mildred was a proud grandmother to twenty-two grandchildren and a great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren, each one a testament to the love and joy she imparted to her family.
Mildred's life was further enriched by the bonds she shared with her ten siblings and a host of extended family and close friends who were like family to her. Her compassionate nature and unwavering support were the threads that wove together the fabric of her family and community.
A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on May 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the New Start Fellowship, located at 431 Kildere Street, Shelby, NC 28150. The family invites all who knew and loved her to join in remembering a life filled with laughter, love, and unyielding kindness.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind words and prayers during this difficult time. The outpouring of support has been a source of comfort and strength.
Mildred Jackson's legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. Though she has left this earthly plane, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In our memories and in our hearts, Mildred will remain forever cherished and profoundly missed.
