Miguel Antonio Lopez

Miguel Antonio Lopez, a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and boundless love for his family, passed away peacefully in 2026 at the age of 98. Born in the small town of Springer, New Mexico on June 23, 1928, Miguel's journey through life was marked by hard work, dedication, and an enduring commitment to those he loved. The son of Teodoro Lopez and Juanita Onofre Sandoval, Miguel grew up with strong values and an appreciation for family. After graduating from Springer High School in 1946, he pursued higher education at New Mexico Highlands University, where he became part of the first graduating class to earn a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1951. That same year, Miguel entered the U.S. Army, serving honorably as a 2nd Lieutenant during the Korean War era and earning several commendations including the Army of Occupation of Germany Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Service Medal. Miguel's journey continued in California, where he built a distinguished career as an accountant with companies such as American Electronics and Rockwell International, which later merged with Boeing. His innovative spirit and logical thinking led him to introduce computers into accounting practices, revolutionizing the field during his tenure. Despite advancing technology, Miguel remained connected to his roots, often sharing his thoughts with city, state, and federal officials well into his 90s. In his personal life, Miguel was blessed with love and companionship. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Guilmette Lopez, and cherished daughter, Gail Lopez. He later found love again with his devoted wife of 38 years, Guadalupe Zazueta Lopez. Together, they created a blended family filled with love and laughter, including daughters Denise (Lopez) Conine, Marcelline (Lopez) Rohrich, and Erendira Zazueta. Miguel was a proud grandfather to Jack Meister-Lopez, Christopher Meister, Michelle V. Zazueta, and Fernando B. Zazueta, and a great-grandfather to Jose Fernando Olivas. A man of faith, Miguel was a founding member of St. Paul of the Cross Church, where he served the community with devotion as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Finance Council. His dedication to his church and his family extended to all aspects of his life, from ushering at Sunday Mass to ensuring his daughters continued to hold their cherished season tickets at St. Paul High football games. Miguel's love for fishing, golfing, and his unwavering support of the Dodgers were small reflections of the joy he found in life. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, as he had the rare ability to make every individual feel valued and important. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Miguel's life will be held on September 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul of the Cross Church, located at 14020 Foster Road, La Mirada, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects Miguel's generous spirit and commitment to a better world. His life was a testament to love, faith, and the enduring power of a kind heart.
