January 2, 1972 — June 26, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Micheal Burden, a cherished father, dedicated community member, and beloved friend to many. Micheal departed this world on June 26, 2026, at the age of 54, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He passed away surrounded by his children, enveloped in the love and comfort of those who meant the most to him. Born on January 2, 1972, in Brooklyn, NY, Micheal was a beacon of warmth and kindness. He was the devoted father of Kevin Burden and Jalisa Burden, who were his pride and joy. Though he leaves no grandchildren, his legacy of love and compassion will undoubtedly echo through generations to come. Micheal was a man of many passions, each pursued with a remarkable zest for life. An avid fisherman, he never missed an opening day, relishing the serenity of the water and the thrill of the catch. His vegetable garden was a testament to his nurturing spirit; he took great pleasure in sharing the bounty of his harvest, especially his prized tomatoes, with neighbors and friends. Micheal’s woodworking skills were legendary among those who knew him; he lovingly crafted furniture for his family, each piece a lasting reminder of his creativity and care. His commitment to service was evident in every aspect of his life. Micheal was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 20 years, where he found joy and purpose in serving his community. As a longtime member of the Rotary Club, he took on the role of president in 1995, leading with integrity and dedication. Micheal also served as a volunteer firefighter for 15 years, bravely protecting and serving those around him. His service extended to his country as a proud member of the American Legion, where he honored the sacrifices of fellow veterans. Micheal’s life will be celebrated on July 1, 2026, at St John’s Baptist Church, located at 137 Fairmont Avenue, Newark, NJ, 07103. The service will commence at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather in memory of a life lived with extraordinary love, courage, and generosity. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the profound impact Micheal had on the lives he touched. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering strength will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Micheal’s honor, to continue the fight he so bravely waged. Micheal Burden’s life was a testament to the power of love and service. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his legacy of warmth and generosity lives on in our hearts.
