Michael Carey, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 25, 1956, in the serene town of Farmington, Maine, Michael was a beacon of strength and kindness to all who knew him.
Michael was the cherished son of the late Henry and Joyce Carey, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. His formative years were spent in Warren and Thomaston, Maine, where he attended Medomak Valley HS and Georges Valley HS before graduating at High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland, in 1974. Michael built a successful career with the Lenkin Company, where his dedication and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
On May 28, 1994, Michael married the love of his life, Katherine Tittel. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, celebrating 32 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his daughter Helen and his son Collin, who, along with his wife Kathy, were the pride of his life. Michael's legacy is also carried on by his sisters Sandra Thompson (Daniel), Patti Carey (Peg Gandy), Terry Cushman (Jeff), and Stacy Burch, brother-in-law Edward Tittel (Dina) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces & nephews. His family extended even further to include his stepbrothers Dan & Jerome Morris, Bruce Wiles (Lynn), Scott Wiles (MaryAnn), and stepsisters Barbara Morris and Alison Hamlin (Tom).
Michael was predeceased by his parents Henry and Joyce Carey, his stepmothers Anita Carey and Lucy Carey, his parents-in-law Alfred and Cecilia Tittel, his brother Jeffrey Carey, his nephew Brian VanLeuvan, and several beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by a loving extended family, including his Uncle John Carey, Aunt Mary Carey, and Aunt Jolie Mikutis (Chuck), who all meant the world to him.
As an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (ALVA Aerie 871), Michael's presence and contributions were deeply valued, and it is fitting that his celebration of life will take place there on October 3, 2026. His warmth and generosity of spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and his gentle, compassionate nature.
In honor of Michael's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, staff, palliative and hospice teams who provided exceptional care and support during Michael's illness.
Michael's life was a testament to love and resilience, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and admiration.
