In Loving Memory

Michael VL Carter Jr
October 28, 1985 — March 10, 2026
In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Michael VL Carter Jr, a gentle soul with an extraordinary spirit, who graced this world on October 28, 1985, in Stockton, California, and departed on March 10, 2026. Michael was a light to all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and ingenuity.
Born to Michael and Thomasa Carter, Michael was a cherished son who carried the honor of his family's name with pride and dignity. Though Michael experienced the profound loss of his parents and other beloved family members — including his mother Thomasa Butler, father Michael Carter, grandfather Tom Butler, great-aunt Ruby Roots, great-grandparents Sammie and Mary Della Howard, and niece Samaiah Martin — he continued to shine, drawing strength from the memories and lessons they imparted.
Michael was a man of remarkable intellect and skill, blessed with a natural aptitude for understanding and creating. His proclivity for fixing and building things was evident from a young age. At just 17, he achieved a significant milestone by completing electrician school and obtaining his license. This accomplishment was a testament to his dedication and brilliance, traits that defined his every endeavor.
In addition to his professional achievements, Michael's personal life was filled with passion and creativity. He was an aspiring rapper and a guitar enthusiast, who, despite claiming to lack rhythm, found joy in the melodies he strummed. Cars were another of his passions, and he could often be found with his siblings, sharing laughter and adventures, embodying the essence of familial love and camaraderie.
Michael's life was enriched by the love of his surviving family, including his grandmother Anna Melendez, grandmother Juanita Quarrels, and his siblings Myshea Carter, Michiala Henderson, Montaveon Carter, Laquisha Jones, Dorrell Wesson, Marcus Carter, and Miaesha Carter. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory and the warmth he brought into their lives.
As we gather to honor Michael's life, we invite family and friends to join us for a celebration of his remarkable journey on March 31, 2026. The service will be held at Greater Christ Temple, located at 8800 Thornton Rd, beginning at 11:00 AM. Together, we will remember a life lived with purpose, a heart filled with kindness, and a spirit that continues to inspire.
Though Michael's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those who loved him. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations, reminding us that with determination and love, anything is possible.
