It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Thomas Austin on September 7, 2026. Born on June 29, 1977, in Tampa, Florida, Michael was the beloved son of Robert and Carol Austin. His sudden departure has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Michael was a proud graduate of Land O Lakes High School and pursued further studies at Pasco and Hillsborough Community Colleges. He later served with dedication in the United States Coast Guard, where he developed a deep love for the sea and all the adventures it held. This passion seamlessly translated into his professional life, where he excelled as an IT Specialist. Michael's expertise with networks, computers, routers, and data center environments was widely recognized and admired by his colleagues.
A man of many interests, Michael was truly in his element when near the water. Whether casting a line as an avid fisherman, exploring underwater as a diver, or simply enjoying the serenity of boating, the water was his sanctuary. His adventurous spirit took him to numerous destinations by car, ship, and plane, where he embraced the diversity and beauty of the world around him.
Michael will be remembered for his friendly personality and unwavering willingness to help others. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, creating lasting friendships and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Carol Austin; cousins Sarah Austin, Mary Belle Preston, Lisa Chesner, Ralph Chesner, and Darren Chesner; uncles Bill Austin, Robert Chesner, Lane VonAsten, and Ronald Chesner; aunts Shirley Chesner and Pat Chesner; and a network of wonderful friends and neighbors who shared in the joy of his life.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvester and Mary Chesner, and William and Thelma Austin, Michael's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life lived to its fullest.
In accordance with his family's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Michael's memory. Those who wish to commemorate his life are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
Michael's light shone brightly in this world, and while he may have left us too soon, his spirit and the love he shared will forever remain in our hearts.
