Michael Talmon Garrett

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Talmon Garrett, a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on August 8, 2026, at the age of 68. Michael was born on September 9, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Samuel Lefear Garrett Sr. and Delores C. Garrett. He was a man of strength and resilience, who bravely battled several illnesses with strength and dignity. Michael was a proud graduate of Cleveland Public Schools, where he built the foundation for a life rich with experiences and contributions. His career journey took him through various roles as a security guard, a welder, and most recently, a carpenter, where he found great satisfaction in creating and building with his hands. In his personal life, Michael was blessed with a loving family. On October 13, 1987, he married the love of his life, Mae Retha Patton. From their union was born a son, Mario J. Garrett and a granddaughter who brought immense joy and pride to Michael's life. Though Mae Retha preceded Michael in passing, their love story remains an enduring testament to their bond. Michael was an avid reader and had a natural talent for working with his hands. Whether immersed in family gatherings or crafting something with care and precision, he found joy and fulfillment in these pursuits. He is survived by a family who loved him dearly: his son, Mario J. Garrett; his granddaughter, Sydney; his devoted sisters, Marva Garrett, Pamela Garrett, Kimberly Williams, and Dawn Garrett; a granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews will carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance. Michael now joins his beloved wife Mae Retha, his parents, his grandfather Talmon Garrett, and his brother Samuel L. Garrett Jr. in eternal rest, leaving behind treasured memories that will forever be held close by those who knew him. A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at Wanton Horne Chapel of Peace, located at 12519 Buckeye Rd, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Michael's generous spirit and love for helping others. Michael's legacy of kindness and craftsmanship will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
