His enduring spirit leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of his surviving family: his devoted wife, Kimberly Sugar; his treasured daughters, Emily and Michelle Sugar; his brother, John Sugar; and his sister, Staci Sugar. Following his service, Michael remained an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Colorado City, where he found camaraderie and purpose, and participated in organizations such as Project Healing Waters and Alcoholics Anonymous. Michael’s passions went beyond his military service; he was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. He delighted in sharing his love for fishing with friends and family, teaching them the art and patience of the sport. In addition, Michael had a talent for cooking, often filling his home with the comforting aroma of his culinary creations, bringing family and friends together around the dinner table.
