Born on July 5, 1957, in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael was the cherished son of the late William and Alice Showers. Raised in a home filled with love and laughter, he was predeceased by his beloved parents, sister Diann Bostick, and brothers Ricky and Jerome Showers. Michael is survived by his devoted sisters Brenda Lane (Alton), Linda Starr, and Brenda Mapp, who were not only his family but his lifelong confidantes. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his nieces Denise Bostick and Shada Copeland, and his nephews Airell Shields, DeAndre Hassan, Jeremy Sykes, and Keenan Starr. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his great nieces Whitley and Brittanni Bostick, great nephew DeAndre Hassan Jr., and great-great niece Kennedi - Lei Agurs. Michael's extended family and friends also mourn the loss of a man who never met a stranger. In a long-term, loving relationship with Ms. Sandra Wyatt, Michael found a partner who shared his joys and supported him through life's journey. Michael's early education at J.B. Gordon School laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and resilience. His career spanned construction and landscaping, with a significant tenure at Bishop Brothers Auto, where he was known for his dedication and expertise. Michael attended various churches over the years, seeking solace and community through worship. His passion for life was expressed through his love of playing cards, video games, dancing, and music. Known for his easy-going nature, friendly smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand, Michael had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel at home in his presence. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Grady and Emory Hospitals, as well as Harbor Grace Hospice, for their professional care and kindness. Special thanks to Pastor J.D. Holmes, the Mathalama Church family, prayer warriors, and Brother Harvis Murphy for their unwavering support and prayers. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Meadows Mortuary, Inc, located at 419 Flat Shoals Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30316. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. In honoring Michael's memory, let us remember his joyful spirit, his love for others, and the legacy of kindness and warmth he leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Michael, knowing you touched the hearts of many and will forever be missed.
