It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Shane Hodge Jr., who left this world far too soon on April 16, 2026. Born on May 15, 2001, in Springfield, Illinois, Michael's life was a tapestry woven with love, joy, and an infectious spirit that touched everyone he met.
Michael was the cherished son of Jessica Mitchelle Hodge and is survived by his beloved sister, Alana May Hodge. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Donna May Hodge, whose memory he always held dear.
A proud graduate of Springfield High School, Class of 2024, Michael was a young man who embraced life with an open heart and a radiant smile. His unique grin had the power to light up a room, and his words often brought comfort and joy to those around him. Michael had an innate ability to make others feel valued and loved, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
Michael's passions were simple yet profound; he found great joy in the company of family and the great outdoors. Whether it was a family gathering or a solitary moment under the open sky, Michael thrived in the warmth of those he loved and the beauty of nature.
Tragically taken from us by a gunshot wound to the heart, Michael's departure has left an indelible void in the lives of those who knew him. Yet, his spirit remains a guiding light, a testament to a life lived with kindness, empathy, and an unwavering zest for life. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
A service to honor Michael's life will be held on April 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Nicolas Church, located at 1937 St Springfield Road. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the joyous moments and enduring legacy of a remarkable young man.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Michael Shane Hodge Jr. Contributions can also be made to the Michael Hodge Funds For Death, a memorial fund established to honor his vibrant spirit and lasting impact.
