Michael Schnell

March 1, 1955 — April 2, 2026

Michael Schnell, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 2, 2026, after experiencing a diabetic episode. Born on March 1, 1955, in California, Michael's remarkable life was filled with love, laughter, and an unyielding dedication to his family and friends. Michael was the beloved son of Lorraine Schnell and the late Herbert Schnell. Throughout his life, he exemplified the values instilled in him by his parents. He shared a deep and unwavering bond with his mother, Lorraine, who survives him, alongside his devoted wife of 48 years, Kerry McCann Schnell. Michael and Kerry's love story began at Hillsdale College in Michigan, where they met and fell in love, marrying on June 24, 1978. Together, they embarked on a journey that saw them raise a beautiful family and build a life filled with joy and adventure. Michael is remembered by his loving children, Matthew Schnell and Amanda Schnell, and his adored grandson, Daveon, who brought him immense pride and happiness. His family was his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Michael also leaves behind his sister, Linda, and her husband, Bob, as well as his sisters-in-law, Jane DiPietro and Cathyann Ray, and brothers-in-law, Michael DiPietro, Matthew Ray, and Bradley McCann. Each of these relationships was precious to him, and he valued the time spent with his extended family. Michael's career took him and his family from Arizona to Colorado, and eventually to Lincoln, New Hampshire, where he found his calling in the hospitality industry, particularly within the ski and golf sectors. His work was not simply a profession; it was an extension of his passion for sports and the outdoors. Known for his kindness and generosity, Michael was an enthusiastic coach to his children in skiing and basketball. He was an expert golfer and celebrated the proud achievement of qualifying for his professional golfing certificate. A man of many talents, Michael also enjoyed playing the guitar and was known to perform for friends and at college and après-ski venues, bringing joy and music to those around him. An avid sports fan, he cheered heartily for the Red Sox and Padres, sharing his love for the game with those he loved. Michael's personal characteristics shone brightly in his everyday actions. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, especially in the kitchen, where his magical touch would transform a post-dinner mess into a spotless haven. Fondly nicknamed the "King of Postcards," Michael delighted in sending greetings from his travels, a testament to his thoughtful and caring nature. To honor his life, a celebration of Michael's life will be held on April 14, 2026, at Woodstock Station, located at 135 Main Street, No. Woodstock, NH. Family and friends are invited to join in sharing stories and memories of a man who touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to live life as Michael did: with love, laughter, and a generous spirit. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, and his absence is profoundly felt by all.
