It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Robert Riehm, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mike, as he was affectionately known, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was 65 years old. Born on April 23, 1961, in the serene town of Hayward, Wisconsin, Mike was a beacon of warmth and generosity throughout his life. The son of Kenneth M. Riehm and Mary Lou Duckett, he was raised with a strong sense of family and community. Though his father, Kenneth, predeceased him, Mike carried forward his father’s spirit of resilience and kindness. Mike’s life was a testament to love and commitment. On November 23, 1977, he married the love of his life, Norma Johansen, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. Together, they built a loving home and shared 48 beautiful years filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. A graduate of Hayward High School in 1979, Mike chose to remain in his cherished hometown, where he became a respected local contractor and property caretaker. For nearly 40 years, he ran his own small business, collaborating with several close friends in the building trades. His work was not just a career but a passion, and his dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on the community. Mike was a man who found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature with his wife, friends, and loyal dogs, any day spent outside was a good day for him. His love for the natural world was infectious, and he shared this passion with those around him, creating memories that will be cherished forever. A man of immense generosity, Mike was always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend in need. His willingness to assist others with their projects was a hallmark of his character, and he touched the lives of many through his selfless acts of kindness. Mike's legacy lives on in his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Norma; their children, son Shawn Riehm and his wife Shiloh, and daughter Crystal Gross and her husband Andy. He was a proud grandfather to six wonderful grandchildren: Dakota, Mikia, Piper, Gage, Gwen, and Grace, who brought tremendous joy to his life. His sisters, Diane, Barb, and Bonnie, also survive him, along with countless friends who will miss him dearly. A service to honor and celebrate Mike's life will be held on June 22, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Hayward Funeral Home, located at 15571W County Highway B. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Mike are invited to attend and pay their respects. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, let us remember Mike for the love he gave, the kindness he showed, and the courage he displayed. His spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, Mike. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
