It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Ray Lewis, a cherished son, loving father, devoted brother, and loyal friend, who left this world on April 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Michael was born on October 26, 1958, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to the late Lieutenant David Lewis and Ruth Lewis. His life was a testament to hard work, unwavering love, and an unyielding spirit. Michael was a man of many talents and trades, building a career as a self-employed logger and a revered "jack of all trades." His hands were rarely still, always busy crafting, fixing, or enhancing something useful or beautiful. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he took pride in providing for his family and serving his community with diligence and dedication. A member of the Holy Hill Baptist Church, since the age of 6 years old. He was outspoken and his protective nature was a constant source of comfort and assurance to his loved ones. Michael was predeceased by his father, lieutenant David Lewis, and his grandmothers, Carrie Lighter and Abbie Lewis. He is survived by his devoted mother, Ruth Lewis, who was a pillar of strength in his life. His legacy lives on through his children, Kya Thomas Smith and David Lewis, and his three grandchildren. Michael was a beloved brother to Barrett (Linda) Lewis, Marnita (Charles)Miller, Brenda Shaw, Cynthia (Keith)Scott, and Carrie Glass, and a cherished uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. His family extends beyond blood, embracing a wide circle of friends and loved ones, including a partner Fannie Prentiss, the Waltons, the Thomas', and the Parkers, who all held a special place in his heart. His friendships were a testament to his generous spirit and his ability to help those around him. As we remember Michael, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a legacy of kindness and strength. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched.
