It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael R. Burns, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, on April 1, 2026, after a short illness. Michael was born on June 7, 1964, in Buffalo, NY, a city he held dear throughout his life, painting his world with its vibrant spirit and enduring camaraderie.
Michael was the beloved son of Larry and Lynda Burns, who predeceased him. He held their memory close to his heart, living each day with the values they instilled in him—kindness, integrity, and a generous spirit. Michael was a devoted brother to Sheri (Gary) Bence and Lori (Jerry) Nagowski, who stood by his side in life’s journey, sharing in laughter, adventures, and cherished memories. A loving nephew, he held deep affection for his aunts, Diane (late Gary) Payne, Patricia (George) Veronski, and Dawn (Garry) Becker, with whom he shared countless family gatherings filled with warmth and joy.
Michael’s life was enriched by the bonds he formed with many cousins, wonderful friends, and close neighbors. His community was a testament to his welcoming nature and the enduring friendships he nurtured throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and camaraderie, woven through every life he touched.
A proud son of Buffalo, Michael was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Buffalo Bandits. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he could often be found cheering passionately for his home teams, surrounded by friends who shared his love for the game. Summers were a time of joy and music for Michael, as he attended outdoor concerts, reveling in the harmony of good tunes and great company.
In their time of grief, Michael’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and staff who provided care and compassion for Michael and his family during his final days. Their support brought comfort and solace, for which the family is eternally thankful.
As we say goodbye to Michael, we celebrate a life lived with passion, kindness, and love. His spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created will remain a guiding light to all who loved him.
A memorial service to honor Michael's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather, share stories, and remember the joy he brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Michael's name, spreading kindness and compassion in his memory.
Rest in peace, dear Michael. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
