In Loving Memory

Michael Porter
April 13, 1975 — June 3, 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Porter, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us on May 31, 2026, at the age of 51. Michael's journey ended after a long and courageous battle with addiction, but his spirit and the love he shared with those around him will forever illuminate the lives he touched.
Michael was born on April 13, 1975, in the serene town of Grants Pass, Oregon, to Thomas and Gale Porter. His early years were filled with the joys of nature, a passion he carried with him throughout his life. His love for fishing and the great outdoors was a testament to his deep appreciation for the simple, yet profound beauty of the world around him.
A graduate of Canyon Springs High School, Michael was a man of intelligence and creativity. His career as a computer engineer at Microsoft Technologies, where he faithfully served since 2006, was marked by a dedication to innovation and excellence. His colleagues remember him not only for his technical prowess but for his ability to bring laughter and warmth into the workplace, brightening even the most challenging days with his contagious sense of humor.
In 1994, Michael married the love of his life, Peggie, on a crisp January day. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, welcoming two cherished children, Ashlea Patterson and Brandon Porter, into the world. Michael's role as a father was one he embraced wholeheartedly, and his love and guidance will continue to resonate in the lives of his children and his two adored grandchildren.
Michael was a man of many qualities, but his ability to make anyone smile was perhaps his most remarkable gift. Whether through a well-timed joke or a heartfelt conversation, he had a unique talent for lifting spirits and forging connections that transcended the ordinary.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggie, his loving children, Ashlea and Brandon, his mother, Gale, and his two grandchildren. Michael's father, Thomas Porter, predeceased him, and their reunion in the beyond brings solace to those he leaves behind.
In honor of Michael's wishes, a private funeral service will be held on June 5, 2026, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate his life and bid farewell to a man whose heart was as vast and welcoming as the Oregon skies he so dearly loved.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They share this special message: "Forever in our hearts and prayers."
Michael Porter may have left this world, but his laughter, love, and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. As we say goodbye, let us remember him in the whispers of the wind over a quiet lake, in the laughter of children, and in the warmth of the sun as it sets beyond the horizon.
