November 28, 1947 — April 11, 2026

Michael Patrick Clark, born November 28, 1947, in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. After a courageous battle with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and bladder cancer, Michael’s journey concluded in the comforting embrace of those who loved him most. Mike was the beloved son of Frank Garrity and Shirley Clark and was lovingly raised by his adoptive father, Francis “Pete” Clark. Predeceased by his devoted parents and his beloved wife, Linda, Michael’s legacy of love and laughter continues through his surviving children: son Adam Clark and daughter-in-law Jennifer; daughters Kelly (Clark) Weier and son-in-law Keith, and Ashley (Clark) Olson. He was the proud grandfather of six—Kaden, Stella, Isabella, Amaris, Kylee, and Ryder—who were the light of his life. Mike’s journey began in Coldwater, Michigan, where he graduated from Coldwater High School in 1965. He attended Ferris State University before transferring to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Education. With a passion for real estate, Michael began his career as a real estate appraiser for Charter Bank of London in Detroit, Michigan, from 1974 to 1978. In pursuit of new opportunities, he moved west to San Diego in 1978 and, a year later, established his own business, Mike Clark and Associates, where he worked until his retirement in 2008 following a brain injury during heart surgery. Mike’s life was rich with interests and passions. A die-hard University of Michigan Wolverines fan, he embraced the mantra, “Football is a religion, and Saturday is the holy day of obligation.” Witnessing the University of Michigan basketball team secure its second national championship was a highlight in his final days. Michael’s greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his grandchildren and the neighborhood kids, whom he welcomed with open arms and a generous heart. Halloween was his favorite time of year, when he would don costumes and delight in handing out candy, bringing joy to all who visited. Known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and a smile that could brighten any room, Mike was a kind and gentle soul. His sense of humor and easygoing spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The Clark family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lorian Healthcare/Hospice for their compassionate care, the dedicated volunteers at Meals on Wheels, and the many family members and friends who offered unwavering support throughout Michael’s journey. In celebrating Mike’s life, we remember a man who lived with joy, shared love generously, and left a legacy of laughter and kindness. His spirit will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends, and he will always be remembered. A memorial service to honor Mike’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his remarkable journey and the love he shared. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mike’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Meals on Wheels San Diego County.
