It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Michael O. Ybarra, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, who left this world on April 15, 2026, at the age of 62. Michael passed away quietly at his home in Gila Bend, Arizona, due to heart failure, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and cherished memories. Born on November 4, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona, Michael was the cherished son of Olga Ortiz Ybarra. He was preceded in death by his dear baby sister, Sandra, whom he held close in his heart throughout his life. Michael's life was defined by his deep love for his family and his unwavering commitment to his country and community. In 1981, Michael answered the noble call of duty and joined the United States Army. Serving until 1987, he was stationed in Germany, where he earned numerous Army Commendation Medals and Ribbons for his meritorious service. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (SP4), a testament to his dedication and bravery. Michael's brothers and sisters in arms, united in service and sacrifice, were an integral part of his life, and he cherished those bonds deeply. On November 13, 2005, Michael married Lydia in a heartfelt ceremony in Las Vegas, NV. Though their marriage was brief, it was filled with a lifetime of love and adventure. Together, they created unforgettable memories and remained friends, bound by mutual respect and affection. Michael is survived by his devoted mother, Olga Ybarra, his loving wife, Lydia, and his sons, one of whom resides in Germany, Jacob Michael Ruben Ybarra of California, and stepson Peter William Letsos of Arizona. He also leaves behind his treasured siblings, Elias (Rebecca "Becky") of Albuquerque, NM, Rose Anne, Johnny (Adela), and Martin all of Arizona. His extended family includes beloved nieces Shelsi, Megan, Sandy, Joei, Sonia, Kristy, and nephews Damian, David, Juan Jr., Michael, Martin, Samual, A~adela, B~adela, as well as numerous great-grand nieces and nephews who adored him. Michael was known for his warm smile and generous spirit. He had an innate gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and his kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy is one of compassion and love, and he will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he enriched. In honoring Michael's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. We ask that those who wish to remember Michael do so by embodying the kindness and generosity that he exemplified every day. As we bid farewell to Michael, we celebrate a life well-lived, one filled with love, service, and an unyielding spirit. Though he has departed from this world, his memory will remain forever in our hearts, a beacon of light and love guiding us through the days ahead.
