In Loving Memory

Michael (Mickey)Bokeko
March 28, 1954 — October 30, 2026
Michael "Mickey" Bokeko, a cherished husband, talented artist, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, at Geisinger in Danville after a courageous battle with double pneumonia. Mickey was born on March 28, 1954, in Emmaus, PA, to Frank and June Bokeko, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Bokeko, and his beloved dogs, Chanel, Crumpet, Monet, and Hugo.
Mickey's life was touched by an extraordinary love story. On June 18, 1977, he married Ellen, the love of his life and his best friend, with whom he shared 49 and a half beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
A graduate of Kutztown State College, Mickey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. His passion for creativity and teaching led him to share his artistic talents with young minds as he taught art to grades K-4 in the Birdsboro School District. In 1977, Mickey and Ellen moved to Williamsport, where he embarked on a decade-long career as a graphic designer for Lamar Advertising. His entrepreneurial spirit then blossomed as he and Ellen opened "Bochicchio’s," a retail and custom design business, which they lovingly ran until health challenges prompted its closure in 1998. Mickey continued to follow his passion for design, working on custom bridal fashions from his home studio until 2022.
A man of many talents and interests, Mickey was an active member of his community, volunteering for the American Cancer Society and chairing the Lycoming Gala for 20 years. Before his health declined, he was a dedicated gym member, always enjoying the camaraderie and support of his trainer.
Mickey's love for life was evident in his many hobbies. He found joy in gardening, cooking, and indulging in culinary delights while watching the Food Network and the Great British Baking Show. His West Highland White Terriers held a special place in his heart, and his creative talents shone through his floral arrangements, wreaths, garlands, and his skillful caricatures, which he lovingly gifted to friends and charities. Mickey's soul was forever drawn to the serene beauty of New England, especially Cape Cod and Nantucket, where he found solace and happiness. He embraced the spirit of Christmas with childlike wonder, bringing joy to those around him with his infectious enthusiasm.
Mickey's legacy is one of humor, resilience, and unfailing creativity. His storytelling prowess, sharp wit, and ability to find laughter in every situation left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He faced his health challenges with bravery and humor, never letting them diminish his spirit or love for life.
A service to celebrate Mickey's remarkable life will be held on November 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pine Street United Methodist Church, located at 441 Pine Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mickey can be made to the Lycoming County Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals, a cause close to his heart or to Ways Garden Commission for his love of the outdoors.
Ellen and the family extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at Geisinger ICU and the 7th floor in Danville for their compassionate care. Mickey's life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and laughter. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
