September 5, 1951 — April 17, 2026
Michael “Mick” J. Dahl, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 74. His departure came quietly at home in the comforting embrace of his beloved family, a gentle end following complications from a stroke.
Born on September 5, 1951, Mick was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout his life. Raised by his loving mother, Alma (Ricketts) Dahl, Mick grew into a man who cherished family above all. He shared a beautiful 51-year marriage with his devoted wife, Karen Dahl, whom he married on April 20, 1974. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and two wonderful children, Jaimie and Steven.
Mick is survived by his wife, Karen of Gulfport, MS, who was his steadfast partner in all pursuits. His daughter, Jaimie (Chris) Rauxet of Long Beach, MS, carries forward his legacy, alongside his cherished grandchildren: Logan Dzaboff, Landon Dzaboff, Sierra (Jake) Pomeroy, and Kane Rauxet. The light of his eyes, great-granddaughter Harlow Pomeroy, held a special place in his heart, her presence always able to bring a tender smile to his face.
The circle of love extends to his step-grandchildren, Courtney (Dylan) Mootz and their children, Kinsley and Kobe, as well as Chelsey Dzaboff. Mick is also survived by his sister, Jacque Leibfried of Akron, OH, and brother, Ed (Sharon) Dahl of Dubuque, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished his guidance and humor.
Mick’s professional journey was marked by a dedicated 30-year career at John Deere Dubuque Works. His latter years found him at the Q Casino as a security guard, a role he embraced with enthusiasm. Mick cherished the interactions and stories shared with the patrons and often spoke fondly of the connections he made there.
In his passing, Mick reunites with family members who predeceased him, including his son Steven Dahl, his mother Alma, and mother and father-in-law Grace and Don Bechen. He joins his sister and brother-in-law Pat (Gene) Glanz, sister Wilma (Tuddy) Stierman, nephews Rick Glanz and Dave Krepfle, and close cousin Barb Dahl in eternal rest.
The family, including brothers- and sisters-in-law Richard (Jeanne) Stierman, Tom (Mary Kay) Bechen, Barb (Willard) Kremer, and Lisa (Nick) Vorwald, mourns his loss deeply but finds comfort in the countless memories they shared.
Mick’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy continues through the family he treasured. The family has chosen to honor Mick’s wishes with a private funeral ceremony, where they will celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on this world.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Mick's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous and giving nature. Mick’s life was a story of love and family, and his memory will forever be a guiding light for those who knew him.
