Michael Max Wake, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 24, 1944, in the tranquil town of Rupert, Idaho, Michael was the cherished son of Mable and Max Wake, who predeceased him. His departure follows a long and courageous battle with COPD, a testament to his enduring strength and resilience. Michael's early years were marked by a deep commitment to his country, having served in the US Air Force. Though his time was brief, ending after six months due to a medical discharge, his sense of duty and patriotism never wavered. He carried these values throughout his life, later becoming a dedicated member of the Elk Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). In 1962, Michael graduated from Orem High School, setting the stage for a life filled with passion and dedication. His career began in the warm, inviting aroma of a bakery, where he spent many years delighting others with his culinary skills. Eventually, he found a new path as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Las Vegas, a role he held with pride and diligence until his retirement. Michael had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him, known far and wide for his quick wit and infectious smile. He was a master of humor, always ready with a joke to lift spirits and brighten days. There was a unique warmth in his presence, a gift for making everyone feel truly welcome and valued—a reflection of his kindness and generosity that touched countless lives. Family was the cornerstone of Michael's life, a testament to his love and dedication. He is survived by his four children—two daughters and two sons—who were the light of his life. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values he imparted. He is also survived by a brother and a sister, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Outside of his professional life, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. An avid fan of old cowboy shows, he particularly enjoyed the legendary films of "The Duke," which brought him countless hours of enjoyment and a sense of nostalgia. In keeping with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Michael's life. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible life he led—a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. Michael Max Wake leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories he created, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared so generously. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
