Michael Joseph Abbasciano, affectionately known as "Big Mike," was born on August 5, 1951, in West Roxbury, MA. He peacefully departed this world at his home, surrounded by his loved ones and his beloved dogs, Coco and Puff. Big Mike was the cherished son of the late Eleanor Theresa and Vito Joseph Abbasciano. He was also predeceased by his sister, Rose, his brother-in-law, James Regan, and his niece, Katherine Regan. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A graduate of Boston Technical High School, Michael dedicated his professional life to the American Red Cross, where he worked tirelessly in the Mobile Unit Operations Department for 45 years. His leadership and commitment were evident as he served as Shop Steward, Foreman, and Union Negotiator for the Teamsters Local 25. His colleagues and friends recall his unwavering dedication and the genuine care he extended to everyone around him. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1976, earning an honorable discharge and the National Defense Medal. His service to his nation was a source of great pride and a testament to his character. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Big Mike had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and he was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. He was an active participant and cheerleader in the lives of the three girls he adored, providing unwavering support and love. In his leisure time, Michael enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling, and attending "The Club." He had a fondness for reading the N.Y. Post, indulging in iced coffees and nightly ice cream trips. He found joy in cruising in the car with his beloved Jacqui and visiting miniature ponies. His love for animals was evident in the special bond he shared with his dogs. A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held on October 16, 2026, at 9:18 AM at Cartmell - Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, located at 373 Court St., Plymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the Social Day Program at the Duxbury Senior Center, an organization committed to enhancing the lives of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's or related forms of dementia. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Carin Harrison and all who brought joy to Big Mike’s life. His spirit, warmth, and humor will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
