It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Joseph, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Michael left this world tragically on April 5, 2026, at the age of 66, after a hit-and-run incident. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Born on November 15, 1959, in the bustling city of Chicago, Illinois, Michael was the cherished son of George and Fanny Joseph. From a young age, Michael exhibited a keen intellect and a natural curiosity about the world around him, qualities that would guide him throughout his life. He pursued higher education at Duke University, where he earned a degree in architecture, a field in which he would leave a lasting mark.
In 1971, Michael married the love of his life, Mary Fanny. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising three devoted daughters and two loving sons. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and their home was a hub of warmth and laughter. As a father and husband, Michael was endlessly supportive, imparting wisdom and love to his children with an open heart.
Michael was not only a family man but also a visionary in his professional endeavors. He ran his own company for the past 35 years, where he applied his architectural expertise to create spaces that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. His passion for his work was evident in every project he undertook, and his legacy will continue through the structures he designed and the people he inspired.
A man of deep faith, Michael was predeceased by his dear family member, Pastor Cameron. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort in times of joy and sorrow.
Michael's greatest joy came from his family. He was a proud grandfather to ten wonderful grandchildren, with whom he shared countless adventures and imparted timeless life lessons. His love extended beyond his immediate family to a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom he cherished dearly.
Michael's family invites all who knew him to a service celebrating his life on April 14, 2026, at 8:00 AM. The service will be held at Leaks and Sons Funeral Home, located at 7838 S Cottage Grove Ave. It will be a time to honor Michael's legacy, share cherished memories, and find solace in the love and support of one another.
In remembering Michael Joseph, we celebrate a life lived with integrity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Michael's memory to a charity of one’s choice, reflecting his generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
