Michael Irving Jeffries, born on February 26, 1953, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, peacefully deceased on September 20, 2026, surrounded by love and care in hospice. Michael, affectionately called Mike. was a man whose life was as colorful and varied as the city he called home, and his absence leaves a profound silence that echoes in the hearts of his family and friends who knew and loved him. Michael was the beloved son of the late James Sr. and Clara Jeffries, and youngest brother to the late Linda Jeffries-Coston. He is survived by his cherished children, daughter Lavonda and son Michael, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy of love and humor lives on in them. Michael is also survived by his siblings, sisters Terri and Connie, and brother James, Jr., who will forever remember his quick wit and warm smile. ADD grandchildren, great grand, nieces Sherri Kennedy (son: Ryan Marcus and children), and Jasmin Jeffries (children Ra'lin and India); nephews Tyree Jeffries and Collyn Jeffries and a host of cousins. Michael attended Shoemaker Jr. High and Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, where he began forming the friendships and experiences that would shape him. He furthered his education at Job Corps, always striving to learn and grow. His journey through life was marked by a spirit of adventure and a zest for living. Michael not only enjoyed horse racing but was a Jockey at the Felton St. Stables in Philadelphia and Delaware Racetrack. He was later employed as a cab driver and fuel truck driver; he embraced each role with enthusiasm and integrity. A man of many interests, Michael found joy in fishing, riding hiding and motorcycles. He enjoyed driving sports cars and cooking, also music and dancing which brought light and laughter wherever he went. Deeply thoughtful and sensitive, Michael was known for his quiet and private nature. Yet, he possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling, always ready with an interesting tale or a humorous quip that would leave everyone in stitches. He was a proud and devoted father, his love for his children unwavering and profound. Michael was also a beloved member of the Police Athletic League (PAL) of Philadelphia, where he shared his passions and talents with others for many years. The Family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Vitas Healthcare hospice doctors, nurses and staff for their tender care and thoughtful expressions of support during Michael's brief stay, which provided comfort and peace to him and his loved ones. As we bid farewell to Michael, we remember a life filled with love, laughter, and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
