Michael was a graduate of Wenatchee High School, class of 1967, and furthered his education at Clark College in Vancouver, WA. Poem / Prayer

THE STOREKEEPER We begin our journey through life with only a few mementos and keepsakes perhaps a Boy Scout pocketknife or the autograph of someone who once seemed important But over the years, depending of course, on the person within and the life they lived—or settled for— our collection grows and comes alive with every page turned and every night lost. Then, at the farewell of it all, what remains may mean nothing to anyone else but everything to the storekeeper. For me, for you, for them, for others, they become the treasured relics of a life, the true measure of one’s worth here: spent memories of the good, the bad, and the precious. They comfort us as life slips into the past, wrapping us in their warmth on cold nights and dark days. They are the fragments of memorable things, woven tightly into the fabric of our souls, defining whether our lives were full or empty. Even the sharp-edged memories grow smooth and soft over time, called upon again and again to cradle remembrance, then gently laid back down to rest quietly with all the others within us. ~ Michael G.
