With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Michael G. Holt, a man of extraordinary kindness and boundless generosity, who departed this world on May 24, 2026, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with illness. Michael's journey began on November 8, 1949, in the charming city of Charleston, West Virginia, where he was born to the late George Holt and Jacqueline Godfrey. His life was a testament to unwavering faith, devotion to family, and a commitment to helping others. Michael was predeceased by his beloved parents, George and Jacqueline, and his cherished daughter, Rachel Holt. Despite these profound losses, he continued to shine as a beacon of strength and love for those around him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Surbaugh, who stood by his side with unwavering support and affection. Michael was the proud father of his daughter, Sarah Holt, and stepfather to Laura Kimble, Zeke Kimble, and Ryan Kimble. His legacy lives on in his grandson, four step-granddaughters, and three step-grandsons, each of whom carries forward his spirit and values. Michael's educational journey led him to West Virginia University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, equipping him with the knowledge and skills to embark on a successful career. He was the proud owner of The Designers, a sign company he nurtured for over two decades. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to work with Central Glass and Glass by Marilyn, where he left an indelible mark through his dedication and craftsmanship. Beyond his professional life, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for boating, exploring the great outdoors on a 4-wheeler, and basking in the tranquility of the beach. These activities brought him immense joy and peace, allowing him to connect with nature and the ones he loved. Michael was known by all as a "mighty good man," a phrase that echoed frequently in the hearts of those who knew him. He was always willing to help anyone in need, offering a helping hand or a comforting word without hesitation. His generosity knew no bounds; if you didn't have something, Michael would give it to you. His deep love for his family was only surpassed by his devotion to Jesus, whose teachings guided his every action. A service celebrating Michael's remarkable life will be held on May 31, 2026. As we gather to honor his memory, we hold close the sentiment shared by his family: "Mike's memory will live on in our hearts forever. He was a mighty good man." In this time of mourning, let us also celebrate the life of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness, his warmth, and his unwavering love. Michael G.
