In Loving Memory

Michael Frank Dunne
February 26, 1963 — May 19, 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Frank Dunne, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who departed from this world on May 19, 2026, at the age of 63. Michael was born on February 26, 1963, in the serene town of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Mary Nichols, who preceded him in death.
Michael's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love. A skilled mechanic by trade, he spent most of his life surrounded by the hum of engines and the scent of motor oil. His passion for working on cars was not just a job; it was a calling that he embraced wholeheartedly, finding joy in every challenge a vehicle presented. He believed that a well-tuned engine was akin to a well-lived life. Both requiring patience, care, and a little bit of elbow grease.
Beyond his professional life, Michael was a man of varied interests. He found solace in the great outdoors, whether it was casting a line into a tranquil lake or trekking through the woods during hunting season. His fascination with outer space spoke to his boundless curiosity and desire to explore the unknown, while his love for nature grounded him in the beauty of the world around him. He also cherished trains—whether watching them pass by or building intricate model layouts—and found great joy in crafting, where his hands and imagination could create something lasting. At home, he cherished his feline companions, who were always by his side, offering comfort and companionship.
Michael was a pillar of strength and warmth for his family. He is survived by his children Jon Michael Dunne, Austin Lee Dunne, Brooke Rose Miller, and Brandi Rae Dunne, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy lives on in his 14 grandchildren: Molly-Ann, Miley, Sawyer, Mila, Carter, Connor, Casey, Carson, Seth, Luna, Wyatt, Malikai, Bryant, and Mckinley.
Family was everything to Michael. He cherished every gathering, every cookout, and every moment spent surrounded by those he loved. His home was a place of laughter, love, and delicious aromas wafting from the grill as he delighted in bringing people together. His warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome, and his infectious laughter could brighten the darkest of days.
In addition to his mother, Michael was predeceased by his brother, Mark Dunne, and his sister, Brenda Dunne Hall, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. Though they have departed, the bonds of family remain unbroken, woven into the fabric of his life and the lives of those who survive him.
Michael's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever be a guiding light for those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to the simple pleasures. A well-tuned engine, a day spent fishing, time with his trains and crafts, and above all, the love of family. As we say goodbye, let us celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
A memorial service to honor Michael's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to share stories, offer support, and remember a man who was truly one of a kind.
