In Loving Memory

Michael Eugene Tolbert
November 7, 1990 — March 19, 2026
In loving memory of Michael Eugene Tolbert, a cherished soul whose presence brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him. Born on November 7, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia, Michael's life journey, though tragically cut short on March 19, 2026, at the age of 35, leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication.
Michael was a beloved son, born to Rochelle Tolbert-Maddox and Raymond Cost, who survive him and carry forward his spirit in their hearts. Preceded in death by his dear brother Elijah and his treasured wife La’shay Tolbert, Michael’s departure leaves a void that is felt deeply by his family and friends.
Michael and La’shay's profound love story began with their marriage on November 18, 2012. Together, they created a family filled with love and laughter, sharing countless fishing trips and family moments that will be cherished forever. Although Michael now rejoins La’shay, their love and the memories they made will endure in the lives of those who loved them.
Michael was a dedicated brother to his twin sister Angelica (Ezekiel), and his brothers Veontae (Siena), Courtney (Alicia), Brandon (Alexandria), Davanta (Brittany), Raymond Jr. (Mahogany), Octavius (Kiara), Genesis (Naomi), Tyler (Autumn), and Christopher (Monae). His legacy continues in his numerous nieces and nephews, who will carry forward the joy and humor that Michael imparted to them.
A proud alumnus of Lithonia High School, Class of 2007, Michael’s quest for service led him to the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor and traveled the world, gaining experiences that enriched his life and those around him. Following his military service, he returned to his beloved Atlanta, cementing his roots as a chief at the renowned Sundial Restaurant. His culinary skills and his infectious smile made him a favorite among colleagues and patrons alike.
Michael was an avid fisherman, sharing this passion with his children and creating lasting memories by the water’s edge. His love for shooting pool and bowling provided countless joyful gatherings, and his quick humor and warming smile were gifts to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael's laughter was a balm, his energy a beacon, and his loving nature a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Michael’s life on March 28, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Triumph Church Kingdom of God in Christ, located at 4613 Lombard Rd, Ellenwood, GA 30294. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Gregory B. Lovett Funeral Home for their kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
As we remember Michael, let us hold dear the memories of his laughter, his love, and the light he brought into our lives. May his spirit continue to guide us, and may we honor him by living with the same warmth and compassion that he so effortlessly shared with the world.
