It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Douglas Foster, who departed this life peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2026, at the home of extended family. Born on January 5, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama, Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity. Michael was the cherished son of Stephen and Donna Foster, who survive him, alongside his loving sister, Linda, and her husband, Steven Hutcheson. He was a devoted uncle to Joseph (Brenda) Hutcheson, Kevin Hutcheson, Billy Stevenson, and Stephanie Hutcheson, and a proud great-uncle to Gabriel and Adrian Hutcheson. He is also survived by his Aunt Jeanne Hyde and her family, as well as numerous other relatives who adored him. His life was further enriched by his closest friends, including James (Sandra) Simpson, Ken (Robin) Harrison, Brian (Veronika) Cooper, Keith (Amanda) Adamson, Walter Stephen, and Ann Johnson, along with countless others who became family to him over the years. Michael's journey in education began at Fort Walton Beach High School, where he graduated in 1989. Pursuing his passion for technology, he continued his education, becoming a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist and Microsoft Certified Professional. His career spanned over 25 years as a dedicated IT professional, where he worked with several esteemed companies, including Onity Inc, Auto Data Inc, Comcast, Intelliteach, and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. Michael was respected for his expertise and was always ready to lend a helping hand with a smile and a solution. Outside of work, Michael was known for his avid collection of comic books, particularly Green Lantern memorabilia, earning him the title of an honorary member of the Green Lantern Corps for more than 50 years. His love for fantasy and camaraderie was also evident in his enthusiasm for Dragon Con, where he proudly served as the Bearer of the Flask. He delighted in playing trivia games with close friends and was a passionate Dungeons & Dragons player. Those who knew Michael will remember his quick wit and warm smile. He had an exceptional ability to engage in a good debate without losing his sense of self, a testament to his authentic nature. Michael lived life on his own terms, never bowing to pressure, and always prioritized spending time with his family and friends. A celebration of Michael's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 210 Ingram Ave., Cumming, GA 30040. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have shown love, encouragement, support, and prayers during this time.
