Michael Charles Parris
April 11, 1957 — March 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Charles Parris, who departed this world peacefully on March 9, 2026, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on April 11, 1957, in the charming town of Cullman, Alabama, Michael was a beacon of kindness, humor, and love throughout his 68 years.
Michael was the cherished son of Charles and Doris Parris. Growing up in a close-knit family, he learned early on the values of compassion, integrity, and the importance of a smile. His father, Charles, and his brother, Steve, along with sister-in-law Denise Henderson, predeceased him, leaving behind a legacy that Michael carried forward with grace and warmth.
A devoted husband, Michael shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Phyllis, for 50 remarkable years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a journey marked by mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a family centered on love, raising their children, Jeremy, Charlie (with Tanya), and Mark, with the same principles of kindness and strength that Michael held dear.
Michael's career as a truck driver spanned many years, during which he was known not just for his dedication and hard work but also for the joy he brought to those around him. His colleagues often remarked on how his infectious smile could light up the dreariest of days, and his ability to make others laugh was a gift he shared generously.
Beyond his professional life, Michael found immense joy in spending time with his two precious grandchildren. It was with them that his heart truly sang, as he delighted in their presence and nurtured them with boundless love and warmth. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy will endure through the countless memories they created together.
Michael's life was a testament to the power of kindness. He had an extraordinary ability to touch lives, leaving an indelible mark of friendship and goodwill wherever he went. His laughter was a melody that echoed in the hearts of all who knew him, a gentle reminder that joy could be found even in the simplest moments.
In addition to his immediate family, Michael is survived by his brother George and sister-in-law Cindy Weeks, along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
As we bid farewell to Michael, we find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he loved. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he imparted and the love he shared remain an eternal part of our lives.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor a man whose life was a testament to love, laughter, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Michael's memory.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may we all strive to carry forward his legacy of compassion and joy.
