It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Charles "Mike" Kratzer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. Mike passed away on June 8, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on January 23, 1963, in the charming town of Sandwich, Illinois, Mike was the cherished son of Charles and Margaret Kratzer. He is now reunited with his father, Charles, in eternal rest. Mike's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for family. He spent his career as a devoted truck driver, proudly serving three family-owned businesses. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and he took immense pride in his contributions to the family enterprises. A man of faith, Mike was a dedicated member of the Newark Lutheran Church in Newark, Illinois, where he formed lasting friendships and found spiritual solace. His kindness, generosity, and genuine spirit resonated throughout the community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Mike was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, snowmobiling, and fishing. Whether exploring the serene landscapes of Illinois or the picturesque beauty of northern Wisconsin, Mike found joy and tranquility in nature's embrace. His love for the great outdoors was only rivaled by his devotion to his family, with whom he cherished every moment. Mike's family was his greatest treasure, and he was endlessly proud of their accomplishments and the love they shared. He is survived by his devoted wife, Terry, who stood by his side for many wonderful years. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and warmth. Mike leaves behind his beloved children, daughter Monica (Kevin) Stewart and son Matt (Jen) Kratzer, who carry forward his legacy of love and integrity. His adoring grandchildren, Josh and Addy Stewart, were the light of his life, and he found immense joy in watching them grow. He is also survived by his dear mother, Margaret, who nurtured him with love and wisdom throughout his life, and his brother, Tom (Lori) Kratzer, with whom he shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond. In honor of Mike's life and his commitment to giving back to the community, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Newark Fire Department, organizations close to his heart. These contributions will continue his legacy of compassion and service. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Mike's memory and celebrate the beautiful life he lived. While the ceremony is private, the family appreciates the outpouring of love and support from friends and relatives during this difficult time. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the memories and love that Mike shared with us. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
