Born in Brunswick, Maine, on January 25, 1955, Michael graced this world with his presence for 71 years, sharing his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love with all who knew him. Michael was the cherished son of the late Juanita Richards and was predeceased by his beloved brother, Donald Glidden. He is survived by a family that loved him deeply: his devoted son, Mark Glidden, and daughter-in-law, Loretta Ray, who stood by his side with love and care. He was the proud grandfather of four wonderful grandchildren, Dan Westleigh, Evan Glidden and his fiancée Ashley Patten, Katherine Gordon, and Selena Gordon, as well as a great-grandchild who brought him immense joy. Michael's life was a testament to resilience and devotion, exemplified by his service to our nation when he joined the Army in 1973. After serving, he pursued his passion for automobiles, establishing a successful career as a self-employed mechanic. His love for cars and trucks was evident, and his skilled hands brought many engines back to life. A graduate of Brunswick High School, Michael's thirst for knowledge and adventure never waned. He possessed an indomitable spirit that thrived on the open road, often found riding his beloved motorcycles. Michael's heart was as expansive as the roads he traveled, always open to family gatherings and the laughter shared with friends he held dear. Michael's legacy of love and friendship extends far beyond his immediate family. He leaves behind cherished nephews, Sean, Matt, and Chris Glidden, who carry forward his spirit of kindness and generosity. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers at Maine Medical Center, whose compassion and expertise provided Michael with the best possible care in his final days. In accordance with Michael's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing his family and close friends the intimate space to celebrate his remarkable life and bid farewell to a man who was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
