Michael “Butch” Oliver Clayson
February 18, 1931 — August 10, 2026
Michael Clayson was born on February 18, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William Oslo and Norma Oliver Clayson, and one of fourteen children.
At the age of eighteen he entered the intelligence community, embarking on a distinguished career that spanned more than six decades. Throughout his long service he played critical roles during the Cold War, the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, and later provided valuable advisory counsel during the Global War on Terror.
father of eleven children: Henry, Teresa, Martha, Judy, Tammy, Jake, James, Larry, Lonnie, Georgia and Michelle. Michael was grandfather and great-grandfather to more than 221 descendants.
Butch will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his country and his fierce professionalism.
