Michael Atkins

June 30, 1960 — March 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Michael Atkins, who departed this world on March 11, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on June 30, 1960, in the picturesque town of Coos Bay, Oregon, Michael's life was a tapestry of adventure, joy, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He left this world peacefully, on his own terms, surrounded by the love and warmth of his cherished home. Michael was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Lorin and Iona Atkins, who instilled in him the values of compassion and resilience. Though he is predeceased by his beloved parents and his dear son, Michael, his spirit continues to shine brightly through those he leaves behind. A devoted father and grandfather, Michael's legacy lives on in his adoring daughters Amber and her husband Carl, Stephanie and her husband Ruben, and Staci and her husband Doug. His nine grandchildren, Corell, Joslynne, Braiden, KaLeesha, Ava, Raelee, Xavier, Michael Jr, and Everhett, along with his first great-grandson, Mateo, will forever carry forward his laughter, love, and zest for life. Michael was more than just a family man; he was the life of every gathering, a beacon of joy and humor. Known for his love of camping, BBQing, and all things water-related, Michael was a true outdoorsman who embraced the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life. His friends and family fondly remember him as a caring, loving, and funny man, whose sometimes-obnoxious humor was always delivered with a twinkle in his eye and a dirty joke up his sleeve. A jack of all trades, Michael was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying the true spirit of kindness and generosity. His willingness to support anyone in need made him a cherished friend and confidant to many. To his siblings—John, Connie, Lorna, Dianna, and Susan—and the vast network of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, Michael was a cornerstone, a man whose presence brought warmth and comfort to any room. In this time of remembrance, Michael's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have gathered to celebrate his remarkable life. "We would like to thank everyone for coming out to celebrate our dad. He is missed immensely but we are fully aware he is in a better place. Thank you so much. Dad, you are so missed. You were a one-of-a-kind man, and we love you beyond words!" As we bid farewell to Michael, we hold tightly to the memories and the lessons he imparted. His laughter will echo in our hearts, his love will envelop us, and his spirit will guide us through life’s journey. Though he is absent from our sight, his presence remains, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and boundless generosity. Rest in peace, dear Michael, knowing you are cherished and loved beyond measure.
