It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Ackman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Michael departed this world on June 30, 2026, at the age of 69, after bravely facing heart failure and colon cancer. He spent his final days in the comforting embrace of his family in hospice care, surrounded by the love he so richly deserved. Michael was born on September 9, 1956, in Antelop, to Una and Marvin Ackman, who predeceased him. He was a cherished son who carried forward the love and values instilled in him by his parents. Michael is now reunited with them in peace. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen, whom he married on June 3, 1977. Their life together was a beautiful journey of 49 years filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Michael's legacy continues through his children, Joshua, Amy, Amanda, and Elizabeth, who were the pride and joy of his life. His seven grandchildren, Timothy, Holly, Michael, Hunter, MarthaJean, David, Luna, and Scarlett, brought him immense happiness and unending joy. Michael also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Mary and Lori, who were his lifelong companions and confidantes. Michael's life was a testament to dedication and service. After graduating from Roseville High School, he served his country with pride in the military. His career as a public bus driver for regional transit spanned two decades, a role he cherished for the opportunity it gave him to serve his community. Michael was known for greeting each passenger with a smile and a pun, brightening the day of everyone he met. His silly jokes, though sometimes groan-inducing, were a cherished part of his character and endeared him to all. A man of faith, Michael was a devoted member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, where he found solace and community. His spirituality and kindness were evident in the way he lived his life, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Outside of his work and church, Michael had a profound love for the stars and astrology. Gazing up at the night sky filled him with wonder and peace, a hobby he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren, teaching them to find beauty and curiosity in the world around them. Michael’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will be carried forward by his family, who hold his memory close to their hearts. The family shares this special message: "Forever in our hearts and an eternity in our memories, we will never forget you." As we say goodbye to Michael, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. Michael Ackman will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Michael's honor, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to kindness. Rest in peace, Michael. Your life was a blessing, and your memory is a treasure.
