Mervel Merle Ricketts

March 15, 1952 — April 18, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Mervel Merle Ricketts, who departed this earthly realm on April 18, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on March 15, 1952, in the lush and vibrant town of Manchester, Jamaica, Mervel graced the world with her presence, leaving indelible marks on the lives she touched. Preceded in death by her cherished family members, Neville and Ivan, she now joins them in eternal peace. Mervel is survived by her beloved family, including her devoted relative Freynel Jn Baptiste, and her four adoring grandchildren, who were the joys of her life. Mervel's life was a testament to the power of compassion and unwavering faith. An active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, she lived her beliefs with a fervor that inspired others to seek their own spiritual paths. Her dedication extended beyond her spiritual community; as a member of the Wellington Rotary Club, she embodied the club's motto, "Service Above Self," in every facet of her life. Mervel's generosity knew no bounds. She had a profound love for cooking and took immense joy in feeding others, often turning meals into gatherings of laughter and love. Her home was a sanctuary where friends and family found warmth and welcome, drawn by her infectious spirit and the genuine interest she took in each person's life. Her professional journey as a nurse mirrored her personal ethos; she was a beacon of hope and healing to those in need. Mervel's work in Bible study and her servant-hearted devotion were not merely roles she played—they were the essence of who she was. Her ability to sense and address the needs of others, sometimes before they even recognized those needs themselves, was nothing short of extraordinary. Mervel's passing leaves a void in our hearts, but her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will remain forever. Her life was a symphony of selflessness, a melody that resonated with everyone fortunate enough to know her. A service to celebrate Mervel's life will be held on May 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Palm Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 4424 South Military Trail, Palm Springs, FL 33463. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Rescue for Hope, an organization close to Mervel's heart, ensuring that her spirit of giving continues to uplift those who need it most. As we gather to honor Mervel Merle Ricketts, let us remember her not in sorrow but in gratitude for the light she brought into our lives. Her memory will forever be cherished, her love and laughter echoing in our hearts.
