In 1973, Merrick married Margaret Maybelle Sweat, and together they built a family filled with love and adventure. His service to his country was a testament to his courage and commitment, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life.
A man of quiet strength and unwavering resolve, Merrick was known for his profound love of family and his ability to light up a room with his humor and kindness. His legacy is one of honor, resilience, and love—the same love that enveloped him on his final journey home.
