December 15, 1961 — April 18, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mendell Roland Nichols Jr. on April 18, 2026, at the age of 64. Roland was born on December 15, 1961, in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, to loving parents Mendell Roland Nichols Sr. and Linda J. Holt. As a devoted husband, caring family member, and cherished friend, Roland's presence was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roland was a man of extraordinary character, known for his quick wit and humorous antics that could brighten the dullest of days. His laughter was infectious, his spirit generous, and his heart full of kindness. He had an uncanny ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories, leaving behind a legacy of joy and laughter. On June 23, 2023, Roland married the love of his life, Christine Rose, in a union that was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with affection, understanding, and shared dreams. Christine was Roland's rock and confidante, and he delighted in caring for her, ensuring her happiness was his top priority. Roland's nurturing nature extended beyond his human relationships; he also had a deep bond with his beloved cat, Patches. His devotion to Patches was matched only by his commitment to maintaining a tidy home, often seen with a mop in hand, ensuring the floors gleamed as brightly as his spirit. Though his time with us has come to an end, Roland is reunited in spirit with those who predeceased him: his father, Mendell R. Nichols Sr., and grandparents Leonard and Alta Bone, and Fred and Lillian Nichols. His memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family, especially his dear wife, Christine, who will continue to honor his legacy through the love and laughter they shared. In accordance with Roland's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and bid him a fond farewell. During this intimate gathering, those closest to him will honor his memory, sharing stories of the joyous moments they spent together. As we say goodbye to Roland, let us remember him for the joy he brought into our lives, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared so freely. He may have left this world, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, dear Roland, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
