It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Melvin George Miner on April 3, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 19, 1934, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Melvin was a cherished son to George and Lillian Miner and a beloved patriarch to his large and loving family.
Melvin was a man who lived his life with integrity, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear. On May 18, 1960, he married the love of his life, Margaret Miller, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that spanned decades, until Margaret's passing. Together, they created a nurturing and joyful home, raising their children Carrie (Wayne) Ewen, Daniel (Rachel) Miner, and Barry (Jackie) Miner. Melvin was also a devoted grandfather to Brandee, Kyle, and Carlee Ewen; Lauchie and Ron Macpherson; Scott (Amber) and Nick Miner; Ryan and Brooke Markham; and Hope and Samantha. His legacy further extends to his great-grandchildren, Mason and Ben Featherstone, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
Melvin's community spirit was embodied through his 66 years as a dedicated member of the Legion. He found camaraderie and purpose in serving alongside fellow veterans and community members. His passion for bowling was well-known, as he competed in numerous local, zone, provincial, and out-of-province tournaments, creating lasting friendships and treasured memories along the way.
Melvin was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret, his dear daughters Betsy and Melody, daughter-in-law Janice, his parents George and Lillian, and his sisters Ella Blaski and Ruby Armstrong. His enduring spirit and gentle wisdom will be deeply missed by the numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who survive him.
In honor of Melvin's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on those who were fortunate enough to know him. While his physical presence will be profoundly missed, his spirit and the values he instilled will continue to guide and inspire his family for generations to come.
Melvin George Miner's legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family and community. As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the countless memories we shared and find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those he loved so dearly.
