It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Melvin Elder, who departed this world on May 15, 2026, at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with an illness. Melvin left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Born on November 4, 1945, in Richmond, Virginia, Melvin was the cherished son of the late John and Mary Elder. He was the youngest sibling to his brother William, who predeceased him. Melvin carried with him the values instilled by his parents throughout his life, which he imparted to his own children and grandchildren.

His career as a Chef was not just a profession but a passion that he embraced with creativity and devotion. For many years, Melvin delighted those around him with his culinary creations, leaving behind a legacy of flavors that will be remembered fondly by those who had the pleasure of tasting his dishes.
Melvin leaves to morn his children, Anthony (Karen), Joshua, Joseph, Aaron, and David. He was the proud grandfather to four grandchildren.
