January 26, 1965 — June 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Melvin Allen II, who departed this world on June 20, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on January 26, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, Melvin was a beacon of light and strength to all who knew him. He left us peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a valiant battle following a car accident. Melvin was the cherished son of Vernalvious Parker and Melvin Allen Sr. He was predeceased by his dear family members Richard Kelly and Patsy Curtis. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold his memory dear: his daughter, Myranda; his sons, Michael, Myles, and Noah; his brothers, Vernon and Norman; and his sisters, Melvetta and Thelma. Melvin was also the proud grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren. A man of remarkable dedication, Melvin graduated from East Technical High School in 1984 before embarking on a distinguished 21-year career in the US military, serving with honor in Iraq and Afghanistan. His commitment to his country was paralleled only by his commitment to education; in 2015, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Ohio University. Melvin's passion extended beyond his military and educational achievements. He was a chef at heart, sharing his love for food at home, on the grill, and through his work at various restaurants, including Max and Erma’s, Damon’s, Dakota's, and the Carver Community Center. His culinary creations were a testament to his creativity and love for bringing people together. A devout Christian, Melvin found solace and joy in attending church every Sunday, and gospel music filled his mornings with peace. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included fishing, swimming, mushroom hunting, gardening, grilling, and hiking. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan, with a particular fondness for Michigan State and the Cleveland Browns. His community spirit shone through in his role as a coach for the Scioto Valley Browns leagues, where he shared his passion for football with his children. Melvin was a man of integrity and warmth, known for his hard work, intelligence, and impeccable style. His radiant confidence and energy were infectious, and he was always there for those who needed him, offering a listening ear and wise counsel. A service to celebrate Melvin's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Shaker House, located at 3700 Northfield Rd., Cleveland, Ohio. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has taken the time to remember and honor Melvin's extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Melvin Allen II. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who loved him, forever and always.
