Melody lynn bowen

September 7, 1966 — July 25, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Melody Lynn Bowen, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Melody departed this life on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Born on September 7, 1966, in Calvert County, Maryland, to Milton Douglas Bowen and Myrtle Lee Bowen, Melody was a vibrant soul from the very beginning. Her life was a testament to the joy she found in dancing, cleaning, and most importantly, in the company of her beloved family and friends. Melody had a special gift for bringing people together, her gatherings were filled with laughter and warmth, and she was always the life of the party. Melody's generous spirit was evident in her unwavering dedication to her family. She leaves behind her four beloved children: Amanda Harrod, Christopher Harrod, Shatara Bowen, and Devonte Harrod, as well as nine adoring grandchildren: Nazquie, Darius, Ke'niyah, Da'vion, LeLand, Ayanna, Serenity, and Jesiah. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchild, who brought an extra sparkle to her eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Douglas Bowen Sr. and Myrtle Lee Bowen, her brother Douglas Bowen, her sister Loretta Shields, her nephew Douglas Jr., and her granddaughter Zi'Rah Bowen. Melody's spirit of love and resilience lives on in her surviving siblings: Michael Bowen Sr. (Sammantha), Brenda Brown, Cindy Kelson, Kimberly Brown, and Rebecca Logan, along with her cherished friend, Debbie Pearson. Melody was known for her candid nature—she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and her playful "cuss you out" charm was part of what made her so memorable. Her education at Calvert High School laid the foundation for a life rich in experiences and connections. A celebration of Melody's life will be held on August 5, 2026, at 10:00 am at Rausch Funeral Home. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of grief. They would like to express a special thank you to everyone who helped Melody find peace at her final rest. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Melody's memory to a charity of your choice. Your generosity will honor her spirit of giving and her love for bringing people together. Melody Lynn Bowen will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever dance in our hearts.
