Melissa Mirabal

December 13, 1974 — October 11, 2026

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that we honor the life and memory of Melissa Mirabal, who passed away at the age 51, on October 11, 2026. A beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend. Melissa was born on December 13th, 1974. She was a loving, fun and a strong woman who had a little bit of everything in her. She had a heart full of love, a fun spirit and she brought her own special energy into the lives of those around her, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Melissa spent the majority of her life caring for people. Whether she was coaching volleyball, helping out with basketball, mentoring children aging out of the foster system, or simply opening her heart and home to take in kids as her own, Melissa had a natural gift for nurturing and guiding others. Melissa loved cooking and sharing good food with the people closest to her. She had a vibrant and adventurous spirit. Melissa loved the outdoors and found joy in camping, fishing, hunting, and attending rodeos with her best friend Vie. She was always finding joy in the things that made her happy. Above all, she loved being surrounded by her family. Known for her infectious smile and laugh, her great sense of humor, and her natural warmth, she brought light and laughter into every room she entered. These were some of the things that made Melissa uniquely herself, and the memories of those moments will remain close to the hearts of those who loved her. One of Melissa's greatest legacies is the love she leaves behind in her two children Jonathan "JJ" Cordova and Adriana "Chici" Cordova (Jeremy and his brother AJ). They will forever carry their mother in their hearts next to their dad Jon, holding on to the memories, laughter, lessons and love she gave them. Though her time here ended far too soon, the love she gave and the memories she created will continue to live on through her children, her family and everyone who was blessed to know her. Melissa is lovingly remembered by her parents, Margaret and Dennis Romero, her mother in law Judy Cordova and Melissa's dad, Pat. She will also be deeply missed by her large, devoted family, including her siblings: April, James (Jessica), Monica, Dennis (Cristina), Bernadette, Courtney, and Jenise; as well as a ton of cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will also be deeply missed by Manny, who held a very special place in her heart. Melissa was preceded in death by her husband Jonathan Cordova; her grandparents Steve and Ramona Mirabal; her sister Nicole Romero; her brother-in-law Josh Cordova, her niece Adrianna Cordova and her father-in-law Eli Cordova. To her family she was more than Melissa Mirabal. She was Auntie Sasa-- a loving mother, sister, auntie, friend and a loved one whose place can never be filled by anyone else. Her strength, her loving heart, her fun personality and the simple joys she found in cooking, fishing, and hunting are all a part of the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Melissa, you are loved more than words can say and you will be missed more than words can express. Your memory will live on in every story told, every laugh remembered, every family gathering and every moment that reminds us of you. May her infectious laugh and generosity live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Melissa, your babies (Deven, Austin, Makayla, Brooklyn, Rylee, Aspen) will always be hunting, fishing and loving everyday. Rest peacefully, Melissa (Auntie Sasa). May you be reunited with the loved ones who went before you. You will forever be loved and forever remembered A celebration of Melissa's remarkable life and the love she shared with everyone around her will be held to honor her memory.
