Melissa (Missy) Lou Howell

Melissa (Missy) Lou Howell, a cherished daughter of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on June 30, 1950, to Otto and Imogene Jones Steinman, Missy was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, her beloved husband David L. Howell, her brother Bill Steinman, her sister Hattie May Greer & husband Lee, her stepdaughter Patty McFatrich, brother-in-law Bill Zuck, brother-in-law Pastor Richard Howell. Missy's life was a tapestry woven with rich experiences and deep connections. On July 14, 1976, she married the love of her life, David L. Howell, in a beautiful ceremony at Unity Village in Raytown, Missouri. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and mutual devotion. Their favorite pastimes included fishing and camping, activities that allowed them to revel in the wonders of nature. Even after David's passing in 2018, Missy continued to find solace in the natural world, particularly in the company of the hummingbirds she adored watching from her deck. Missy's heart was as expansive as her love for wolves and her Basset/Beagle cross "furbabies" Mike and Bugle, a passion she pursued with boundless enthusiasm. Her career path was as diverse as her interests, having worked at Hallmark, Price Chopper, and Hardee's, where her handmade biscuits became legendary. Missy's warm smile and quick wit endeared her to colleagues and customers alike, leaving a lasting impression wherever she went. Her membership at the Walnut Shade General Baptist Church was a testament to her faith and community spirit, providing her with a supportive network of friends and fellow believers. She is survived by her brother-in-law Mike Howell and his wife Ann of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, her sister-in-law Ginnie Steinman of Lee Summit, Missouri, sister-in-law Colleen Zuck, Independence, Missouri, sister-in-law Pauline Howell, Raytown, Missouri and her stepsons Bill and Mike Howell. Missy also is survived by several step-grandchildren. A celebration of Missy's life will be held at the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, located at 1638 Highway 76, Branson, Missouri. Melissa (Missy) Lou Steinman Howell will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter, love, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
