Melinda was predeceased by her dear brother, Roger Watts, and is survived by her siblings Leelon and Marnie, who will forever cherish the bonds they shared. She leaves behind her children, Paul, Terrance, and Mariah, who were the center of her world and the pride of her heart. Melinda's legacy of love and compassion also extends to her cherished friend of nearly 25 years, Sherry Sparks, with whom she shared countless adventures and treasured memories. A long-time resident of Alaska, Melinda dedicated many years of her professional life to the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, where she served as an Administrative Assistant. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and her commitment to proper procedure, she was a guiding force, ensuring the smooth operation of the refuge and supporting her colleagues with a generous spirit. Melinda's life was filled with music and community, and she was a much-loved member of the Tok Choral Society. Her voice added harmony not only to the choir but also to the lives of those around her. Her dear friend Sherry recalls their many adventures together—whether it was attending dog races, basketball games, or embarking on spontaneous road trips, Melinda was always the best company. One of Sherry's fondest memories includes a last-minute trip to Las Vegas, where they spent an unforgettable evening on Fremont Street, singing along to '80s music and savoring the joy of shared moments. Melinda was a woman of quiet strength, warmth, and enduring friendship. Her laughter and love left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She was a true embodiment of grace and generosity, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. A virtual memorial service to celebrate Melinda's life will be held on Monday, August 3rd, at 10:00 am Alaska Daylight Time. Further connecting details will be shared in due course.
