MELINDA DAVID CHAVEZ

December 5, 1946 — October 9, 2026

Melinda David Chavez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on December 5, 1946, in Cavite City, Philippines, Melinda was the cherished daughter of Leopoldo and Leonida David. Her journey through life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy—a life rich with experiences and the warmth she brought to everyone she met. Melinda's life was a tapestry woven with love and commitment. On January 6, 1973, she married the love of her life, Dr. Pastor Chavez, embarking on a partnership that would span over five decades. Together, they built a family full of love and laughter, raising four wonderful children: Melissa Feage, Merlinda Felix, Pastor Chavez Jr., and Paul Chavez. Melinda's legacy continues through her nine adored grandchildren, Pachi, Sadie, Phoebe, Olivia, Pi, Cailey, Jaeden, Jagger, and Robin, who will forever treasure the memories of “Lola” who filled their lives with delight and affection. Education was an important part of Melinda's life. She graduated from the Women’s University of the Philippines, which set the stage for her enriching career as a dietician in her homeland and later as a dynamic professional in the United States. Melinda was truly a "jack of all trades," whose career path took her from being a dietician at UCSF to a position at the Pacific Stock Exchange in San Francisco. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she ventured into real estate and the operation of a care home, leaving a lasting impact on all those she served. A devout Catholic, Melinda dedicated her time to her faith community at Mater Dolorosa Church. Her commitment to service extended beyond her immediate surroundings as a passionate member of the Abuyognon Association, where she played a vital role in organizing fiestas and various fundraisers. Melinda's love language was food, and she had an incredible gift for cooking and entertaining. She cherished gatherings that brought together family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her love for travel took her across the globe, visiting places like the Holy Land, France, Switzerland, England, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and her beloved Philippines. Known for her sharp mind and quick wit, Melinda was a woman of remarkable intellect, often attributing her academic success to her "photographic memory." Her vibrant storytelling and infectious laughter filled rooms, captivating everyone with her tales and humorous anecdotes. Her warmth, compassion, and generosity were felt deeply by all who knew her, and she took immense joy in spoiling her grandchildren, creating a legacy of love and happiness. Melinda's life was a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and dedication. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we celebrate her life, we honor the incredible impact she had on our lives and cherish the memories she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Breast Cancer Association in honor of Melinda's giving spirit and commitment to helping others.
